Searching the Fremont County Court Docket
Start with the free Colorado Judicial Branch Docket Search, which loads with Fremont County already chosen. It shows scheduled proceedings for the Fremont County court docket, not a complete filing history. Filters let you trim the list by courthouse, County or District Court, division, date range, case number, party, business, attorney name, or bar number. Pick at least one filter beyond the date. That is the rule.
Match the court printed on your notice or citation. Fremont Combined Court keeps both the state District and County Court dockets. Cañon City, Florence, and Williamsburg handle municipal matters through their own city channels. Unsure of the level? Choose Both. Use your most exact information and follow this sequence:
- Keep Fremont County and Fremont Combined Court selected, then choose Both, County, or District as the court type.
- Pick Today, one week, one month, three months, six months, or a specific date.
- Split a known case number into its four-digit year, class, and numeric sequence fields.
- Without a number, choose an individual, business, or attorney search and enter the matching name fields.
- Read the hearing date, time, duration, type, courtroom, and appearance mode, then confirm changes near the setting.
- Ask the clerk for the register of action or a named document when the calendar result is not enough.
Fremont County results display twenty at a time, and you can export or print them. Watch the pagination when a common name fills more than one page.
Fremont County Docket Search Fields
You cannot type a Fremont County court docket number into one open box. The official search splits it into parts. A number like 2025-CR-01234 breaks into year 2025, class CR, and sequence 01234. Entering the pieces separately cuts down false matches when you know the number.
| Field | Use | Fremont County detail |
|---|---|---|
| Judicial District | Optional location filter | Fremont County is in the 11th Judicial District |
| Court Type | Both, County, or District | Use Both if the level is uncertain |
| Date Range | Current or specific-date settings | One added non-date filter is required |
| Year, Class, Sequence | Exact case-number search | Entered in three separate controls |
| Party or Business | Name-based search | Choose the correct party mode first |
| Attorney | Name or bar-number search | Useful when party details are incomplete |
The official Fremont County court page lists the court's services, contacts, and the county source itself. Check the Fremont County trial-court page before using the captured reference below.
That official page confirms the docket link and clerk services belong to Colorado Judicial. They do not belong to the elected county recording office.
Inside a Fremont County Court Docket
Read a public Fremont County court docket like a calendar entry. It tells you when and where a proceeding is set. The clerk's Register of Action, or ROA, is a different product entirely. The official request form describes it as a brief chronological account. That account may include charges, sentences, and minute orders. Filed pleadings and orders sit in a third layer above both.
| Case number | Filing year, case class, and sequence, such as 2025-T-01234. |
|---|---|
| Hearing | Date, start time, duration, and the proceeding label. |
| Location | Fremont County location and a courtroom such as 101, 201, or 302. |
| Appearance | May show VIRTUAL; a blank field does not authorize remote participation. |
| Not shown | Full pleadings, charge facts, financial ledger, document images, or complete disposition history. |
A printed Fremont County hearing result is not a certified disposition. For the official file, order a named document or authenticated copy from the Clerk of Court.
Fremont County Docket, ROA, or File
Picking the right Fremont County record saves real time. The docket answers the next-setting question. The ROA answers what happened across the life of the case. For the actual text of a complaint, motion, minute order, judgment, or decree, you need the filed document. Certification from the clerk adds formal authentication on top.
- Docket
- The Colorado Judicial public list of scheduled proceedings.
- Register of Action
- The clerk's chronological case summary, including brief entries for case events.
- Minute order
- A short official record of a ruling or courtroom event.
- Disposition
- The recorded outcome of a case or charge, which a calendar label alone cannot prove.
- Certified copy
- A copy authenticated by the court clerk for a purpose requiring official proof.
Ask for the narrowest Fremont County item that meets the need. One specific judgment or sentence order is a clearer request. A blanket demand for every paper in an older file usually is not.
Courts That Keep Dockets in Fremont County
Fremont Combined Court houses both state trial-court levels at one address. District Court handles felonies. It also covers civil cases in any amount, domestic relations, juvenile, probate, and mental-health matters. County Court takes misdemeanors and state traffic cases. It also handles felony complaints, civil claims under the statutory limit, small claims, protection orders, and evictions. Municipal clerks keep city-code and municipal-traffic records of their own.
| Court | Docket covers | Where to search |
|---|---|---|
| Fremont County District Court | Felony, major civil, domestic, juvenile, probate, mental health | Colorado Docket Search or Combined Court clerk |
| Fremont County Court | Misdemeanor, state traffic, civil under $25,000, small claims, protection orders | Colorado Docket Search or Combined Court clerk |
| Cañon City Municipal Court | City-code and municipal traffic matters | Official Cañon City court channel |
| Florence Municipal Court | City-code and municipal traffic matters | Official Florence court channel |
| Williamsburg Municipal Court | Local ordinance matters and posted docket | Official town code-enforcement page |
Fremont County Court appeals generally go up to District Court. Most District Court appeals move on to the Colorado Court of Appeals. Colorado has no justice-of-the-peace tier.
Two Fremont County Clerk Offices
In Fremont County, the word clerk can send you to the wrong building. The Clerk of Court at Fremont Combined Court holds criminal, civil, probate, family, and traffic case files. Those files belong to the state courts. The elected Fremont County Clerk and Recorder records land instruments. It also runs elections, licenses, and other county functions. It cannot certify a state court judgment. The official Fremont County government site presents that separate administrative identity plainly. Seeing it helps confirm the County Clerk and Recorder is not the state court clerk.
Take ROA, court filing, judgment, transcript, and certified case document requests to the Fremont County court clerk on Justice Center Road. Recording work belongs to the County Clerk and Recorder on Macon Avenue.
How to Find Court Dates and Settings
A current Fremont County court docket entry lists the setting date, time, duration, hearing type, courtroom, and appearance type. Check every field against your paper notice. One case can carry more than one setting. A VIRTUAL label describes appearance information only; public-observation links and party-participation links are separate things. A blank appearance field is not permission to appear online.
The Fremont County court page also publishes recurring civil patterns. County civil money returns are listed for Monday at 9:00 a.m. County Court forcible-entry-and-detainer returns appear Wednesday and Thursday at 9:00 a.m. District Court Rule 120 and other nonappearance matters may be set at 8:00 a.m. None of these patterns proves an individual date. The assigned order and a current search control that.
For a fuller date-finding walkthrough, see the Fremont County Court Dates page. When an older notice and a current result disagree, confirm any reset with the clerk.
Fremont County Docket Search Gaps
An empty Fremont County result does not prove no case exists. The name may be spelled differently. You may have picked the wrong trial-court level, a wrong class, or a date range with no hearing inside it. A city citation may sit outside the state tool. Juvenile, sealed, protected family, older, or off-site records can also require a different access route.
Try the fallback chain: search Both court types, widen the date range, verify the case-number pieces, check the named municipal court, then contact the Combined Court clerk.
Colorado Courts E-Filing mainly moves filings for Fremont County and other state cases, while CoCourts sells statewide name searches under its own terms. Neither one is a clerk-certified Fremont County court record. Treat both as leads, not proof.
Public Access to Court Dockets
Colorado Judicial publishes its hearing calendar for anyone to read. Fremont County court-case access still follows Judicial Branch rules and the clerk's process. The Colorado Open Records Act covers many public records. Yet it cannot turn a county administrative request into automatic access to every court filing. Some portions get withheld. Juvenile, adoption, sealed, and protected portions may be released only to an authorized person.
Key access rules:
Chief Justice Directive 05-01 governs inspection and copying of Colorado court records and identifies access limits.
Chief Justice Directive 06-01 governs court fees, including record-related charges.
Colorado Open Records Act, C.R.S. §§ 24-72-200.1 et seq. covers many state and local public records.
Colorado Children's Code, Title 19 provides protections for juvenile records.
A missing case is not proof of restriction. A Fremont County docket can drop out of a public search for several reasons, so never read its absence as a statement about the facts of the case.
Fremont County Court Access Channels
The online calendar is only the first route. Fremont Combined Court takes records requests by email, fax, mail, or in person, and general questions fit the main phone line. The request form covers an ROA, a named civil or criminal filing, a probate item, a protection order, a certified or exemplified copy, and other documents you specify. A transcript runs on its own form. Its preparation process is separate as well.
Fremont County's form asks for the court location, your contact details, required party names, and any known case number. A date of birth can help. It sorts people apart when names match. Checkboxes divide requests into family, criminal, civil, and probate. Family choices include a decree, parenting plan, support order, petition, or separation agreement. Criminal options cover the complaint or information, sentence order, protection order, and ticket. Civil options list a judgment, satisfaction, transcript of judgment, or protection order. Probate choices reach letters, wills, petitions, and closing papers. Anything not listed can go in the Other field.
| Channel | Best use | Key limit |
|---|---|---|
| Free Docket Search | Current hearing date and courtroom | Not a full ROA or image viewer |
| Phone or counter | Routing, uncertain court level, older file | Clerk confirms access and scope |
| Email, fax, or mail request | ROA and named documents | Fees and release rules may apply |
| Colorado Courts E-Filing | Filing and role-based case access | Public access is not unrestricted |
| CoCourts | Paid statewide name search | Coverage and terms must be checked |
Older Fremont County files may sit off site. Retrieval takes time, so a narrow request helps the clerk quote a more useful cost and delivery estimate.
Docket Records at the Clerk's Office
The Clerk of Court, Fremont Combined Court, keeps the state-case records. This office handles case files for both County Court and District Court. It ordinarily answers the current request form within three business days. Unusual circumstances can take longer. Once the clerk reviews a request, access, copy, certification, retrieval, research, and redaction needs can all be assessed.

Fremont County's published fees are specific. Copies run $0.25 per page. A certified or exemplified document costs $20, a transcript of judgment $25, a certificate of satisfaction $20, and a name search $5. Off-site retrieval bills at actual cost. After the first hour, research and redaction run $30 per hour in fifteen-minute increments.
A party or attorney pulling records from their own case faces a published $15 copying maximum. The schedule lists no such cap for a nonparty. Fee relief may apply where a directive or statute requires it. The clerk must review the particular request before quoting a final charge. That $20 certification fee does not buy unlimited pages. A hearing transcript is separate. It takes its own form and estimate, apart from ordinary copying.
Colorado Judicial and Fremont County Dockets
Colorado runs one unified Judicial Branch. That is why a single clerk office can serve two Fremont County trial-court levels. The branch supplies the free docket calendar. It manages Colorado Courts E-Filing too. It also publishes court rules, record-request forms, payment access, closure notices, virtual-proceeding instructions, and self-help routes. The Colorado Judicial Branch is the official statewide source for all of it.
A legacy court link sometimes moves. The statewide page is the sound fallback then. For county work, the Fremont County-filtered calendar and the local court landing page stay the more direct choices. The same Fremont County page separates Webex directions for parties and attorneys from public-observation access for nonparties. Those roles are not interchangeable. It lists a self-represented litigant coordinator and a family court facilitator. Neither replaces the clerk as records custodian. A docket correction, copy, or setting question still goes to the assigned division or clerk.
Historic Fremont County Docket Books
Not every Fremont County docket began online. The Colorado State Archives inventory traces District Court judgment docket books from 1874 through 1897. Registers of Actions run from 1880 through 1890. County Court civil dockets cover 1941 through 1969. Criminal record dockets span parts of 1890 through 1964. Later criminal and traffic records follow. The inventory also flags water decrees and naturalization material.
That history is why an older search takes more than a web calendar. The clerk may need to pull an off-site file, and actual retrieval cost may apply. Start with the court and the approximate year, then name the docket book, ROA, judgment, or filing as closely as you can. The Colorado State Archives finding aids help you tell an archival series from a current Fremont Combined Court request.
Fremont County Court Dockets by City
Not every local case lands in the state Fremont County court docket. Cañon City runs its own municipal court. Florence and Williamsburg do too. Rockvale and Coal Creek work differently. There, you start with the citation itself. Neither town offers a standalone public docket portal. The five incorporated places below follow the 2020 Census population ranking. Each card links to its local court docket explanation for that city.
Cañon City Docket Search
County seat with a separate Municipal Court for city-code and municipal traffic cases.
Florence Docket Search
Municipal Court information and clerk contact for Florence ordinance and traffic matters.
Williamsburg Docket Search
Town Municipal Court page with a posted docket route and published courtroom rules.
Rockvale Docket Search
Citation-first routing where the current municipal court arrangement must be confirmed.
Coal Creek Docket Search
State calendar fallback for County Court cases and direct confirmation for municipal authority.
Penrose and Lincoln Park sit out because the Census lists them as census-designated places, not incorporated municipalities. For routing, trust the court named on your summons. That detail beats any guesswork.
